Well to start, the age of five was a pretty simple time in music for all of us. It was mostly what was on the radio or the theme song of a show that we all loved to watch(possibly still watch.) Even though it was not that huge of an impact, the music of the time really helped open us up to music through different outlets. Listening to the music now becomes a moment of nostalgia. Being 10 changed the rules a little bit for all of us. Everyone listened to the same thing because we wanted to "fit in." Anooj seems to be the only one who didn't go with the boy band fever or the pop princess cults. Still the years around that age were very interesting because elementary school was a "who can fit in better with everyone else." There was no need to find yourself because we were all like everyone else.
High school was the big defining moment in our lives. That time was when we were all trying to figure out who we were and music was an outlet of that journey. High school is divided into cliques and everyone fit into one of those. Being with those cliques helped introduce us into different music that is not quite in the know but fit who we were/are. Different cliques would say that music sucked but mainly because they didn't know what the music was or sounded like. Yet everyone was willing to learn about the music during high school. It was another time in our lives that expanded our music horizons. Learning about other genres and artists but not quite liking it or just absolutely loving it was what high school was about for all of us.
College. The next big chapter in our lives as most people call it. A time that will define us almost indefinitely as a person. The music that we brought with us from high school helped us get to know others who were into the same music. The same music also brought us closer to people who knew music that we didn't know and brought into our horizons...again. Just walking around the halls in the dorms or simply asking people what they listened to was a gateway to new people, ideas, and music. Music now is not only something that we enjoy listening to but also a major part of our lives and who we are.
