Entry 1: Taylor Humphries

In the story It Still Moves: Lost Songs, Lost Highways, and the Search for the Next American Music, Amanda Pertrusich goes into a great amount of detail about the once upcoming music we now know as Americana. She starts with the simple step of observation. Without observation there would be nothing really known about the Americana style of music. Through observation you can find things that challenge or puzzle your beliefs and values which all contribute to the learning of Americana music style.

Amanda then goes into considering why things are the way they are. What makes up the Americana style? Where did the unique sounds come from? Americana music is said to be a makeup of all traditional folk music, blue grass, blues, gospel, country and many more. Throughout the first chapter the author goes into great detail painting us a picture to the answers to these types of questions.

A key to successful writing is being aware of others thoughts and the ability to be a flexible writer. People enjoy reading stories they can relate to and music is a great way to get through to people. So far Amanda Petrusich has not shared to much of her opinions and just goes off the story and history of Americana.
