Entry #1 Cynthia Aynilian

Petrusich questions a lot of things on her trip. Her main motive for the trip came from her quesition of "how are our collective ideas about Americana changing?" (Petrusich 16). Her drive came from finding out these answers. As Petrusich goes on the road she beings to question highways, and roads and how they came to be. She answers all these questions in detail as well.
Petrusich puts a lot of details in her book. For people like me who do not know a lot about these musicians Petrusich gives full background and details about them in her book. One of the people that Petrusich put a lot of detail into was Sam Phillips. Sam Phillips is not an artist but an engineer and a recorder of music, and was an entrepreneur at Wrec DJ. Phillips recorded a lot of Blues music, including Elvis Presley (however he did not find Presley). Petrusich gives a lot of detail about how the time period (specifically in Memphis chap. 2) changed the music and the musicians who played.
Petrusich is receptive and respectful to the idea of others. Her journey is all about learning the idea of how things came to be the way they are. She adds facts and expands on details of the ideas of others. Petrusich does give her own opinions but is respectful of others opinions in this book. Petrusich does not let her feelings get in the way of hte readers; she lets the readers come up with their own conclusion based on her facts, and experiences.
