Question: Petrusich sets out on a journey to find out more about Americana music. How does the place we come from influence the type of music that is made?
Amanda Petrusich decides to travel to the south to discover where american music comes from and how it has changed over time. She hops into her car and sets out to the south through the interstate highways and small country rodes. She is able to discover different but similar aspects of America. Music is revealed on the roads. It needs to be searched for and exposed. Music is hidden within houses and the towns. Today's music is also hidden in the streets and within neighborhoods. I grew up within a community of church members and also among friends in school. I was influenced by the people around me. Now i find myself listening to Christian rock and which makes a lot of sense. I liked listening to rock in high school because I like the lyrics and music. However, I also liked Christian pop at the same time. This has influenced my taste in music.
