Amanda Petrusich believes that most of the successful art has been created by the American South. Although she claims that “All great music comes from the south” she still ask questions to herself of why that is (page 16). She wants to know more about where the music she loves hearing comes from. She starts off with a list of questions as she goes on her mission to find answers to her questions. Petrusich ask many questions to help her better understand “How do the places we come from-our hometown, our regions, our city blocks-influence the sound we make”, and going on this mission she hopes to find answers to her questions (page 16-17).

In It Still Moves: Lost Songs, Lost Highways, And The Search For The Next American Music Amanda Petrusich reflects on many things she observes to help her find answers to her questions. She gives many detailed descriptions about New York City and the people that live there. As she reflects what she sees she comes to the conclusion of why people live in New York.

Although Petrusich has her own view points and beliefs she is still open to other point-of-views. When she mentions John and Alan Lomax she admired them and how they understood music. She added others opinions along with hers engaging in others ideas. By adding other viewpoints she is supporting her claims making them stronger.
