Elvis Presley's rise and fall has said a lot about Americana music. Elvis Presley's fame was just another example of your basic pop star's career. When Elvis Presley was the man of the hour, he sang and danced and everyone loved him for it. Although some people criticized his dancing because it was thought to be too inappropriate. Nonetheless, Elvis was one of the legendary ancestors of Americana music. Americana music back in the past was mainly expressed through rock n' roll, jazz, blues, and even through country songs. Elvis Presley mainly focused on rock, but he brought out a whole new level of the style and made it not only a memorable era, but a whole new culture as well. He is still forever known as "The King."
During Elvis Presley's rise, he displayed a whole new way of performing music that no one else has ever seen before his time. He performed with unusual dancing and unique rhythm to his songs. His rise states that Americana music has evolved throughout the years and that new styles of it can last for a long time. But Elvis's decline of his career also says that Americana music can "lose its posture" and become less popular through other people's opinions. During Elvis Presley's decline, people thought of him as a bad influence to people due to his dancing. And because of that, less and less people listened to his songs. What this says about Americana music is that people's opinions affect it, but there are still people that have passion for it. As a matter of fact, there are still people out there today that go out and search for old Americana music. This is because they think that it is the original music that beats all types of music, especially the hip hop genres that today's younger generations are listening to. These Americana music they search for includes old rock n' roll music that Elvis Presley listens to.
It just goes to show you that the popularity of Americana music is greatly influenced by the very same artists that make them. That sort of thing still happens today in our society. Music today can be very influential to the people that listen to them. And when the artist that makes them starts having problems in their personal lives, the media reports it and before you know it, the news will be spread out throughout the nation. An example of a modern pop star crisis, people began to judge Kanye West when he insulted Taylor Swift during one of last year's award shows. And after that, people began to criticize Kanye West and the rates of people listening to his music was greatly affected. So just like in the past, a artist's career can affect his/her music, whether it is Americana music or not. But nonetheless, Elvis Presley is still remembered as an icon in America because he created the whole new style of rock n' roll. What he brought in the 50s is still remembered in today's music as an inspiration to Americana music.
His rise and fall shows that Americana music can change over time as the American society changes. Eventually peoples taste in music evolve and subsequently so does Americana music. Even though the music changes does not mean we forget it completely. Most music is influenced by music that came before it. Elvis for example paved the way for more modern forms of rock n' roll. Without Elvis to pave the path rock n' roll today may be very different. Almost all music today is influenced by a past style of music that may have been similar it.
